Susan Hardison, owner of Collaborative CounselingCollaborative Counseling is owned by Susan Hardison. Susan is a Greensboro, NC native with over 25 years of experience in the field of addiction treatment. As a person in long-term recovery, she is passionate about helping others to achieve a new life beyond addiction. She firmly believes that recovery is possible.

Challenges and setbacks are inherent in the recovery process, along with immeasurable rewards. Having a professional to support you in your recovery journey can empower you to accomplish your goals and to transform your life.

Professional Experience

Susan brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in addictions counseling from her past experience working in outpatient, hospital, court, in-home, and inpatient treatment settings. Prior to starting her private practice, Susan worked for over 15 years at Fellowship Hall, a treatment facility in Greensboro. She has also worked in a medication-assisted treatment practice, and with county mental health. Susan has expertise in crisis intervention, harm reduction, counseling education, and mental health, as well as alcohol and other substance use counseling and treatment.

Throughout her career, Susan has worked with diverse populations using a variety of treatment approaches. Her work experience, along with her personal experience as a person in long-term recovery, have led her to have an open-minded and flexible approach to addiction treatment. She understands that addiction is complex, and affects people’s lives on physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. She works with each client to identify what supports will best help them in achieving their personal goals.

Education and Credentials

Susan has a Master of Social Work degree (MSW) from the UNC Greensboro and NC A&T University. She has a Bachelor of Social Work degree (BSW) from UNC Greensboro.

Susan has been a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC, formerly CSAC) for over 20 years. She returned to school several years ago to further her counseling education and obtained her master’s degree. Susan is a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist, and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate, supervised by Jack Register.
